Something a little different. It's not a model train favorite necessarily, but at least one of my favorite real passenger cars is the diner. I have a great memory of the one on the Amtrak Texas Chief. A number of years ago we piled our family into a family compartment (our own little traveling "apartment") and rode round-trip Dallas to Chicago. After riding all night, early the next morning my wife and I left the kids sleeping in the cabin, and went to the dining car and ate breakfast (with silver, a linen tablecloth and napkins) while watching the sun rise over the Mississippi River, heading into St. Louis.
Great memory, and I like eating, so dining cars (with waiters and linen, of course) rank near the top! It's wonderful to be riding along, enjoying a great meal in the diner as you travel.
