Good thread! Some of you may also be interested to know that the original Blue Ridge Tunnel, just a few feet away from a new and slightly lower bore the C&O made in 1944, is being rehabilitated as a walking trail. http://blueridgetunnel.org/ At 4,237 feet long, it'll surely be a unique experience.
