Reply to "First Locomotive into the Shenandoah Valley, taken there by a 20 mule team- 1853"

Sorry Jim but my post wasn't too clear.  Much of what was being posted here about the Valley RR dealt with the segment between Staunton and Lexington.  I was just trying to emphasize that the bridge and other parts of the line that could be viewed from I-81 between Staunton to Lexington were not the focus of engineering notes of John's book.

Somewhere I have a small pile of relatively useless information about the Valley RR that I was gathering with the goal of one day writing a book or article.  That idea died when John's book came out.

I do happen to also own Crooked & Weedy, which is about the Chesapeake & Western.  While the C&W did pick up part of the Valley RR from the Baltimore & Ohio, the book's focus is more on its original line from Elkton through Harrisonburg to Stokesville.
