Not sure on the whole avatar thing, and what glitches keep messing them up. I see avatars come and go all the time on this forum, with large numbers of the generic "Tin-Tin" profile, including my own.
Every avatar pic I have tried to attach only lasts a couple of days at most, then returns to generic. I have shrunk stuff to 100 x 100 pixels, used random photos, personal and non-personal photos, but nothing sticks. I'm using Google Chrome btw.
Unless you are using photos of a human being (or you are a forum sponsor), anything that is of an inanimate object will be deleted by the mods if it is noticed.
The criteria for acceptable photos is "recognizable photo" of you.

Yeah, that's the thing: I have used 100x100 pixel full face "recognizable" photos, but it doesn't matter, they still snap back to Tin-Tin after a short while. Therefore I assume it's a software glitch with the forum provider algorithm.
As I also mentioned, other forum members avatars also disappear, (replaced by Tin-Tin), some have non-human and human avatar pics that appear to be permanent.
I'm fine with the Tin-Tin silhouette; he has more hair than me.
