New York Central 10 Wheeler #1232 on the Harlem Division turntable in North White Plains, getting ready for a run to Lake Mahopac. The train will leave the Harlem Division at Golden's Bridge for the steep (100 ft per mile) 7.22 mile climb on the Lake Mahopac Branch to where it intersects the Putnam Division at XC just south of Lake Mahopac Station. On this climb, the pounding of the locomotive's cylinders could be heard for miles.
