Reply to "Full DCC Automation"

Hi KC Stage, Thanks for your detailed followup. There is a wealth of information I am learning through the followups on this thread.

Given that I am very much a beginner and plan to slowly ramp up layouts and its automation for decades to come, I am indeed in two minds about DCC vs TMCC/Legacy. While idealistically DCC seems like the best path forward, I am very nervous as a singular long term solution, as I worry that I pretty much will shut out Lionel.

One scalable path would be the write a like you and many mentioned here, An automation layer that Controls both TMCC and DCC hardware for locomotives, switches and accessories.

That goes to the points Brendan and Prof. Chaos mentioned.

Brendan, was JMRI able to control both TMCC locomotives and TMCC Switches? I have seen some examples in YouTube.

Prof. Chaos, thanks for the insight that the TMCC/Legacy serial commands can be obtained. Are there any ebook/pdf for Legacy/TMCC serial commands published in any document that you can point me to for reading. I am looking for command definition for locomotives, switches and track accessories, its Bit length, baud rate etc.
