Reply to "Fun with O scale Southern Pacific"

Very nice.  Reminds me of that postcard they gave away at the 1980 California Railfest.

You do know that in the 1949/50 time frame a cab forward would be at one end of a 115 car freight, and an ABBA set of Black Widows with stainless grills would be at the other end?  As I recall, the steam would be in front, but I was only ten at the time and could be wrong about that.

The Sunset would roar through my back yard at midnight.  Frightening amount of noise - it never slowed down for our tiny town.  Probably PAs or E7s at the time.
