I've been waiting to point to this pair of videos from a Japanese freight forwarder that explain a lot about the current mess:

Note that when "Iino-San" says "ocean freight", he's usually referring to the price of ocean freight (english as a second language and all that). His channel contains a bunch of topics revolving around freight forwarding, presented in the same animated info-graphic fashion seen in these two.
