Every Atlas AEM7 I ever owned had that problem; I wonder if it was done on purpose. You have to pull the front apart (not hard or painful) and stick the pilot in a vice with some felt on either side to protect the paint. Then when you put it back together, make sure there is just a hair of clearance between the pilot and coupler. That will solve your problem, and they look much better that way.
