Southern PS4 4-6-2 imported by PFM (United) in 1976 and GN S-1 4-8-4 decoder and LED prep.
=============
Southern PS4 4-6-2:
Almost final assembly!
Heat shrink tubing for the head light and marker lights.
Usual extra 'wire' for future PM.
LED's for headlight, running board lights and cab light soldered to a 4-pin connector.
Seats added.
Had to move the motor to cut some excess motor mount to route the wires past the new back head and leave the new caulk on the motor 'cook' before final assembly.
===============
GN S-1 4-8-4 imported by Tenshodo in the 70's.
TCS 1517 decoder, new can motor and LED's install.
I have at least one of all my GN classes converted to DCC but 'missed this one'!
I added the 'glacier paint'.
This engine has the functional 'power reverse' where the mechanism moves 'up and down' for forward and reverse.
One has to be close to the engine to see the 'movement'.
The old PFM contact is mounted on the driver retaining plate.
A collar on one drive supplies the 'movement'.
I re-motored and put in a Sagami motor in this engine along with PFM sound many 'moons' ago.
Replaced the larger can motor with a smaller can motor so the 'back head' will fit in the cab.
Had to cut a 'slot' in the motor mount to route the wires past the back head.
JB weld used to secure the back head.
Original rectangular hole made larger for the 8-pin connector.
Tender head light drilled and 0402 LED installed.
Marker lights and head light drilled for LED's.
The old candescent bulb had to be removed.
Cab light and running board lights installed.
