Reply to "Has anyone received the new MTH SP Heavyweights?"

Just opened the SP Daylight RPO car, Stripes appear to be a Grey/Silver  more "Grey" than silver in my opinion . The stripping seems crisp and is more like pin-stripping (not oversized like the catalogue depiction). Inaccuracy of the Proto-typical car aside, nicely done. Will look good and should match the MTH Daylight engines.

Much better than white.

Actually the RPO's in Daylight colors were Harriman cars. Lionel's remake of the Weaver RPOs would be closer. Pretty much the only monitor roof cars in Daylight colors were baggage cars, postal storage cars and a few diners. The rest pictured above are fantasy cars. Here is page that lists the heavyweight cars in Daylight colors.

Just for reference, not trying to hijack the thread. Weaver by Lionel RPO and next to a Lionel 18" Aluminum car.

For the record, SP Harriman RPOs were different than this.

Do to tooling costs we can live with the different body style if at least the colors are accurate, which is much, much better than having a completely accurate model painted in the wrong colors.
