Under the assumption that the firmware that is currently on the remotes is written in the way it has been explained by a couple Lionel folks here on the forum, once a patch is available it should be able to be installed over bluetooth, likely with an app made for this purpose.

I do hope this one gets sorted out, as it seems like a pretty big problem.
