It's actually quite the common misconception, especially when you consider helium is lighter than air. In reality, the helium put into the cars is at around 3000 psi, and despite that, it only added 3069 lbs. to the weight of the car when full.

I had a feeling the humour & irony of my question would get lost in translation as it crossed The Pond...
