@H1000 posted:What is the part number of the VRE engine? It sounds like your engine is a PS2 5 Volt board and the sound file is for PS2 3 Volt board. The sound files between the 3 volt and 5 volt engines are not interchangeable. Now it is still possible that you have a 3 volt engine and your 3 volt file is too big as your engine may only 1 Megabyte of ROM space and the file is 2 Megabytes in size.
Easy way to tell if your engine is 3 or 5 volt is by the charging port (or lack there of) on the bottom. If it is round you have 5 volt board and a square two pin port indicates a 3 volt board. I usually look at the battery replacement section of the owners manual which will tell you if you have a 9 volt or 2.4 volt style battery.
The receiving VRE unit has a square two pin port. The message does say the engine only has 1 Mb while the file is 2 Mb. Interestingly all the sounds on both VRE and GO ( I have another GO unit) are very similar other than destination announcements.
The VRE product number is 20-2011-1
Cannot seem to find any info on ROM size.
