Your question here is where to put the bus wires. Answers would depend on your choices for the following questions:

Which side of the layout will your transformer(s) will be located?
Will you be operating: Conventionally, Lionel TMCC/Legacy, Lion Chief, and/or MTH DCS?
If conventional operation is desired, do you want to control more than one locomotive at a time?
Do you want to divide the layout into electrical power districts or blocks?

Detailed answers would be helpful.
