help with buying a DCS Commander or Commander remote

Looking at purchasing a new MTH DCS Commander or Remote . My question is does it work with all PS2 and 3 engines. I've watched enough videos to know how it works however no one covers what engines will work on this system. I've seen some articles that say 5v PS2 engines won't work and then someone says they will. Any help is deeply appreciated, Thanks
