Yes, that would work. Also, some use the hollow interior doors for a layout that can be carried and stored. (borrowed from HO) They are 32" w or 36"w by 72" L. A 32" curve would be 4 curve pieces and 1 half -straight. A 36" would be 4 curves and one full straight in between, when using O27 track and small curves.
The door can set on the floor, on a table, on saw horses. You get the idea.
