Pappy and GGG made a good point. A traction tire put on a clean wheel will go the distance. I do that automatically. I see PS-1 engines with original good tires. Remember, if a tire came off, throw it away. Roll the tire over the wheel and do not stretch it, no glue (big no-no), no bullfrog crap, do not remove all tires, and use the right tire for the job. Tires are cheap. I have about 50 Lionel diesels and every one gets MTH tires. I saw a broken tire next to my track last week and hit the panic button. I had to review everything I ran. It was nothing I fixed for Charlie as checking tires is on my check list before an engine goes back in the box. It turned out to be a friend's engine who I let him use my layout to run a used engine he purchased.
