The earlier PS3 had a software problem that noticeably lowered the engine volume. MTH techs told me to download a new sound file with a different suffix code which would correct the problem. That didn't work. After going back and forth, the only remedy for some, not all, of my PS3 engines (C408W & 9s) was to install a 4ohm 3watt PS2 Veco speaker. MTH seems to have fixed the problem as the newer PS3 engines have better volume and bass.
