Probably half to two thirds of the exhibits are geared towards kids, but the submarine and a number of the shows are really all-ages, as are some of the temporary exhibits.  A year or two ago one of the temporary exhibits was "Mummies of the World" which featured real mummies (definitely geared to a more mature audience).  As with anything, a little research before going helps in deciding if it is worth the trip.  Personally, I find the submarine and the layout worth the admission every few years or so.
