I used a combination of nails and screws. Much of my current layout is attached one side to the wall for support. I used my framing nail gun much like I used to finish the basement, 2x4 construction with 1x4 cross pieces. Some of the cross pieces and all of the top are screwed in. The air nailer went quickly and the nails were secure.
