Did your friend do this one also.

No.  I know who did, though.  It was accomplished by Craig Wheeler.  He built and painted the actual model and placed it in front of the Chris White artwork.   Polar Lights encouraged that by printing the artwork sans Godzilla on the back of the box:

You can see more pics of the model itself without the background here: https://culttvman.com/main/craig-wheelers-godzilla/

Or maybe this one.Godzilla Aurora Model - Polar Lights re-issue Model Kits

That box artwork was painted by James Bama.  He painted many of the original monster models Aurora produced back in the 60s: Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, Wolf Man, The Creature, King Kong, et al.  Polar Lights re-released many of them in the late 90s and early 2000s in boxes with very similar artwork to the Aurora originals such as the Godzilla box in your pic.  Here's the Aurora original:

The Polar light kits have been around for decades at least the sixties.

I know where I have been, I know where I am at, I am hopeful I know where I am going.(The devil and God are talking it over).

My replies to your questions are displayed above in bold.
