To outside rails, 2-1/4" on the ends (where the curves are) and 3-1/2" on the sides (where the straights are). No Plexiglas or other material as guard rails and no disasters so far. Hmmm...sounds a bit backwards now that you have me thinking about it? Lots left to do on the layout though.
