On my version, the housing is held on by two screws through the faceplate.

Remove these, the throttle, and the two very small screws holding the red and green lamps.

Then the housing can be carefully pulled up and away revealing the guts. From there it is just cutting, pulling and reconnecting the new wire.

Reassembly is the opposite of disassembly being careful to get wires back inside without pinching.
