How much current can a PS3 board take?

I'd like to tie in a 2nd powered A unit to a PS3 A unit running in DCC mode from a battery.  Rather than running both A's as PS3's that are lashed together, I want the 2nd A motors to be tied to the first A unit.

How much current can run through the PS3 board in DCC mode?  In my test below, 4 motors are running off a 14.8 Lipo Battery and settle in between 1.5 and 2 amps.  But the startup amps can get as high as 7 or even 8.  Is that too much of an initial jolt for the PS3 board?

Thanks!

Ron
