How to tell if MTH DCS?

I just bought a collection of 3 rail trains at an estate sale and had little time to test anything before the layout was dismantled. I do G scale and have never played with O guage.

I know a couple of locos are MTH DCS but don't know about a number of others. Any way I can tell?

And for ones that aren't, I understand there are different ways to reverse them. If it helps, the layout was powered by a Z4000 and an MTH DCS system. I see the Z4000 has a reverse button but I've also read that some trains reverse by pulling the throttle back and then forward.
