Use of the 5906 button does not have the 5 volt compensation winding that the train is expecting like it gets from the KW when the whistle control is activated. The 5906 is typically used where the need for that 5 volts is not there as there is not an extra motor(the whistle motor) running at the same time as the locomotive motor.
