I was messing around with the Kadee-equipped tenders I've been working on and noticed that my 1946 #300 was running much quieter than my 1947 sample.

So I took the newer one all apart (needing only a straight-head screwdriver and a 1/4" nut driver), gave it a good clean and lube, and...

...holy cow! I've had high-end HO and N scale engines that were noisier than this is now. Unbelievable...

...those people in New Haven really knew their stuff. thumb
