Reply to "Installing ERR's AC Commander in Lionel CC Locomotives"

John,

Yes, the chuff is controlled at the tender truck.  There is no rear tender light and the coupler is operated with a Remote-Control track.  The Lionel PA A-A diesel, to which I added Cruise Commander, has an on-off switch for the cab light, and an on-off switch for the Railsounds, in the unpowered, untethered A unit.  The diesel sound, ie.rev. and intensity is also controlled at the truck.  The diesel horn and bell will work with  transformer buttons when in Command mode.  The transformer is a ZWC with 4 135W bricks and is programmed as Track 0 for manual operation.  The layout is wired with both TMCC and Legacy.

It is my understanding that the older (20 years) Railsound boards cannot be operated through the AC or Cruise Commanders.  But, I am really not sure.  Will check further.

Trainman9,

Does the CC Berk have a sound tether between the tender and engine?

George
