Is it possible to use an original TMCC base with a Legacy remote?

Hi all! I work at a railway museum, and we're having some issues, as the remote for our model train broke! We have another remote on hand, but we can't find the base to go with it. Our original remote & base were the Lionel TMCC Cab-1, but the extra remote we have is the Lionel Cab-1L Legacy. We've searched all over for the base to go with the new remote, but can't find it. Is it possible for us to program our original TMCC Cab-1 Base to work with our Legacy remote?
