Reply to "Just bought a Lionel 700e scale hudson"

Artfull Dodger, that's a nice looking Hudson, she is a looker!. Yes, I am very happy and very lucky I got my 700e to run and find out nothing was warped. It ended up being a bent screw head, that when tighten down flush,  it forced the cow catcher to hang low. My Hudson does not have the best paint (few scratches and patina), but I know she was never restored or touched up. Now I just need to put some new cab numbers on so it will look a bit better. I bought this engine on a whim as it was a good price.

FYI, I do have a 1-700e that I bought back in 1996 and paid full pop (retail price) and though she does not have Command Control, good sound and all fine features of today's engines. She was made good ole U.S.A. by American workers in an American factory. Also, if you can afford a 773, get one of those, those are good runners (I have one too) and is second best thing than owning a full blown 700e.
