The older 800 series Kadee couplers will couple with many traditional claw couplers. Try coupling to rolling stock of different manufacturers. The other options are replace the Kadee with a claw coupler (more difficult) or install a Kadee on one end of one of your cars in place of the claw. Then use this transition car right behind the engine.
