Kline GG1 question..

picked up this semi scale gg1 back in december from a member here. love this train dearly... pick this one over my williams or my lionel... but when i run it, seems like it doesnt have any slow speed, almost seems like i have to get a good couple volts to it, i will hear a relay or some type of electric noise, then it will move... i know i read alot about people here running the motors in series, to drop the current down... i know this one has an electionic board in it, dont know what it does.... so i was wondering if i could do it to this one... just want it to be able to crawl around the track.... any ideas?
