That would be something. I know some time ago someone had suggested(maybe Don) about Lionel bringing back an L3. I myself would love to see one or more with those "elephant ears" smoke lifters or whatever people like to call them. Yeah they block viewing the builder's plate, but I just love them.
I was lucky to find 2797 on eBay a while ago, got the caboose and the Beacon Oil tank car. Haven't been able to get the Michigan Central boxcar or the coal hoppers. Those have never turned up in any of my searches.
I did get really lucky getting 2793 from Grysboski's(I hope I spelled it right) recently. I think February I finally nailed it down.
A few years back, maybe 2018 eBay did have 2791 for about a hot minute in one of my searches. That thing was gone so fast. Only reason I remember it was because I had to go on to Lionel's site to compare the catalog to make sure which one it was. By the next day or so it was gone.
It would be interesting to see what future versions of the Mohawks come out, but if Lionel doesn't produce any other Mohawks, what will all of our L2's do with all the old L3's? Ask them to be upgraded? Or converted to L2's, lol.
