Correct on the switches. Yes, by removing them the 036 loop would easily fit inside the 048 loop; the switches create some lengthwise offsets that need to be adjusted. In addition to the extensions that came with the switches I added four 1-3/4 extensions, two on each loop, to center the smaller loop.  I'm a Mac guy so did my modelling experiments with Railmodeller; it really helped me to figure out the dimensions and parts I needed. I can't compare the two but assume this software works much like SCARM....? Anyway I lucked out: I'm using every stitch of track I've bought so far, and it all fits with a center rail spacing of 6" all the way around.
