The DCS only gives you .5V steps in conventional mode, so it won't be any better than the old PowerMaster. Smooth operation isn't in the cards with that combo. The Legacy only controls command stuff, so in order to vary the track power smoothly, you need something like the Legacy PowerMaster as well.
