I suggest the later. It's so easy to do once you've done it. This way you can upgrade instantly when and if a new version comes out. There is also a "featured post" at the top of the Legacy forum with all the LSU and Upgrade files.
The link at the top of this page also takes you to the download page for all the software.

MartyE - you say it's simple. If not, I hope you don't mind a question or two? I've never done anything like this before. And I do have the ESE diner Railsounds car so I would like to go to 1.6.
