Unless I don't understand, isn't that sort of like saying the sticky side of duct tape will wear off if you touch it with your fingers enough? 
(I know, it's far less sticky than duct tape, but what other influence makes the stickiness go away?)
This problem actually developed over time, right? None of the original remotes were sticky right out of the box.
