From my limited experience with the DCS remote and from what I've read regarding the app/WIU I understand the database is not kept on the TIU but rather the remote or app. At least the remote has nvram to store states between sessions, the app must read the environment each time and the user must prompt this action.

I think the remote solution needs a lot more smarts (software) than we realize and I understand why you wouldn't wish to get into it.
