So it's been about 2 months since my remote has been at the service center and I didn't have any updates during that time. I gave the service center a call on Thursday and to my surprise it was fixed and ready to be sent back.

Total cost for repair, including taxes, was 183 dollars. Yikes... But at least it's fixed now, lesson learned. Keep my Legacy remote away from me when I am handling smoke fluid bottles and maybe put it in a bag while I have smoke fluid in hand.
