Hello Jeff,

They make all kinds of actuators, length of travel, speed, etc. it would depend on how fast you wanted the action to be. Like the gas shock, the actuator would be out of sight.

I am assuming that you would mount the pulley overhead and connect the bridge via a rope/cable with a counterweight.
