LED's are much more prone to flicker, even under the best circumstances.  The reason is incandescent bulbs have a built-in holdup of the light, even if it's only milliseconds.  OTOH, LED's turn off instantly when the power is gone.  That fact is evident when you use them like this.  If LED's didn't turn off instantly, they couldn't be used for onto-isolation of high frequency communication signals.

I'm very aware of that (much of my background is electronic engineering).  But I had really thought that two trucks in parallel and two rollers would have done a better job providing a virtually constant voltage unless things started to get dirty.  I guess not.
