Reply to "Lionchief plus gp20: horn sound volume less than bell and announcements"

@hokie71 posted:

I have the 6-82173 lionchief plus NS GP20 which I run occasionally.  Recently I lent it to a neighbor to run and he commented that the horn had low volume.  I may not have noticed but he is correct, and I seem to have an odd combination with the sound volume: The bell and announcements are relatively louder than the horn. When adjusting using the remote, they all move up or down in the same relative volume. Is this the nature of the beast and I did not notice it in the past or is there an issue and solution to increase the horn volume? Thanks in advance for thoughts.

Early Lionchief RF based Lionchef Plus engines like this ONLY have master global volume control digitally either using the remote or if using the "hotspot" mode with the orange Universal remote, the Lionchief app also only shows master volume. You cannot make say horn different volume than bell o crew talk louder or quieter than other sounds.

That is just how the sounds are recorded and the limitations of the function of the sounds in these engine.

E33 Rectifier is the same basic board series and the same limitations (Lionchief Plus RF).

Instructions for included original remote:

With the engine powered and remote on and connected,

turn the speed dial to center on the remote to the middle or  "neutral"

Press and hold both the Horn and Bell buttons on the remote and observel the LED on the remote blinks- do not let up  on those 2 buttons.

The sound may become quieter once the LED on the remote blinks because middle (dial position) is possibly a lower volume than the previous setting. So now, again, with both bell and horn buttons depressed, turn the speed knob on the remote clockwise for louder. When you are finally at the volume you want- then release the horn and bell buttons. Caution, the speed dial might be at full now so do this adjustment with no obstructions on the track.
