Reply to "Lionel 2037 Disaster...In Search of a Miracle?...Miracle Found!!!!!"

Well, I finally got the Honda pressure sprayer out to do a few Spring cleaning chores.  So I thought I'd give that steel woolie 2037 a spray to see if that would knock all the shorting fuzzies out.

AND IT DID!!!!!!

I first fastened the motor block to a screened soil sifter I had in the shed using plastic tie wraps.

Then I first used the "Rinse", or lowest pressure, spray setting to see if that would be adequate....nope!

Tried the next strongest power setting of the nozzle...better.

Finally I used the next highest setting...one step below the most powerful concentrated and focused stream...and that did it!  Not only were the woolies gone, but that motor block...drivers, armature, axles, idler gears...was clean.  Nope, didn't use any detergent; just water.

So, if you should encounter this situation on a Magne-Traction motor block assembly...someone using steel wool to 'clean' the motor's innards and leaving a mess of woolie steel fibers everywhere...strip the assembly down to the minimum needing de-wooling, and give it a strong power washing!

Thanks for your support...and patience...as i brought this to closure.

And that 2037 now runs like a postwar 'Swiss watch'.

Enjoy your Spring and Summer!
