@dkdkrd Bravo! Not only did you rescue a sick puppy of an engine, you took the time to tell us what you did to do it. I imagine there is a good bit of sentimental value that the owner has for it.
Steel wool is not an uncommon problem, so I believe many will benefit from your experience - for many years to come, for as long as the OGR forum is on the internet.
Did you dry it immediately? Have any problems with rust after cleaning? Did you apply any light oil to discourage rust?
