Just in case it's relevant, (1) I've never had any operating issues with my Lionel GE Hybrid although it did ship with rusty wheels like a lot of them did; and (2) the MTH version will have the chasing light feature but not the Vision "sleeptime" or smoke technology, which are very cool in operation. Also I think that the MTH version is a less accurate model of the protoype than the Lionel (but I've got one on order anyway).
