1:43 is O sale in Europe and smaller 1:48 is O scale in the States. In going smaller than 1:50, you grow closer to matching semi-scale Lionel or slightly smaller scale Marx (1:50s for both, both O gauge) (I think that car is 1:50s no?)

But if he runs "only" full O the 1:48 will look best even if the train car is slightly small (imo). All new?... which engine?

If you have time, you might have them custom airbrushed. Or hold out on that car until the next round of gifts 😜
