Manny, the fun is putting PolEx stuff on the layout for my kids, especially since they loved the movie. There has always been a bond between Lionel trains and Christmas and the Polar Express is a fun manifestation of that bond. It’s a great Christmas train whether someone liked the movie or not (I actually liked the storybook more than the movie, for sure).

That’s really all there is “to get” - no reason for you to be sorry.
