No, not when using the Base3. This is because specifically a key design point was base3 already supplies power on the PDI ports, so you do NOT need the Y power cable and starter serial PDI chain cable set used for the older 990 Legacy base. Again, Legacy base only had serial, and could not natively supply PDI bus power. So a special cable and power adapter was sold as a set.

Base3 was designed after LCS and PDI existed- so it natively has powered PDI ports.
