Reply to "Lionel Base 3 questions"

I have the same question for plugging in my db9 plug currently plugged in to my TMCC command base which connects to all my asc 3000’s. I only have original command base and i need to figure out how to plug all my switches into the new Base 3. Everything works so well currently and i am hoping that I can easily upgrade to a Base 3 and keep all my current switches running. Not sure if just using a SER2 for DB9 plug in and then run PID cable to Base 3 will work. Looking forward to taking advantage of all the goodies in the Legacy Engines we have been purchasing. They run great with original TMCC and original Cab 1s’ but hoping to convert to Base 3 and Cab1L and Cab3 App. Any input is appreciated.

Important to read the notes on the LCS SER2. It actually is a great interface device and can serve multiple functions- specifically booth providing the old 2 or 3 wie style serial data signal used with ASC 30000s while also being able to use the 9 pin standard serial at the same time, as long as on the wired interface the device is not both TX and RX.

LCS SER2 manual link from Lionel https://www.lionelsupport.com/...50SER2UsersGuide.pdf

Note! You may use either the three screw terminal connector or the DB9 connector
on one SER2. You may use both the DB9 and the comm/output screw terminals simultaneously. However, if your configuration requires using the SER2's INPUT screw terminal as well as the output, you cannot simultaneously use the DB9 connector. In this case, add an additional SER2 module to your layout.

Again, as long as your device (an ASC3000 is receive only) doesn't utilize the INP also known at TXC on the end device, then the 9 pin serial port won't be in conflict.
